Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion diced
2 cloves garlic minced
2 tbsp taco seasoning
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 hoagie rolls
2 tbsp butter or oil
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese
1 cup diced tomatoes
1/2 cup fresh cilantro chopped
1–2 jalapeños sliced
1/4 cup mayonnaise or Mexican crema
1 tbsp lime juice
1 tbsp hot sauce optional
Instructions
1. Prepare all ingredients by dicing onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, and chopping cilantro. Mince garlic.
2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add oil. Add ground beef and sear before breaking apart.
3. Add onions and cook until softened, then add garlic and cook briefly.
4. Season with taco seasoning, salt, and pepper and mix well.
5. Chop the beef mixture finely with a spatula.
6. Add shredded cheese on top and let it melt, then combine.
7. Toast buttered hoagie rolls until golden.
8. Spread mayonnaise or crema inside rolls.
