Description

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup warm water

3 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter or lard

1/2 teaspoon baking powder (optional)


Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder if using.

2. Add fat and mix until crumbly.

3. Gradually add warm water and mix into a soft dough.

4. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

5. Cover and rest for 30 minutes.

6. Divide into 8–10 balls.

7. Roll each into a thin circle.

8. Heat skillet over medium-high heat.

9. Cook each tortilla 30–45 seconds per side.

10. Stack in towel to keep warm.


Notes

Resting the dough ensures soft tortillas.

Use a hot skillet for best texture and bubbles.

Avoid excess flour when rolling to keep tortillas tender.
