Ingredients
14 oz extra-firm tofu
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 cloves garlic minced
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons green onions sliced
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
1. Press the tofu for 15–20 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut into bite-sized cubes.
2. Toss tofu with salt, pepper, and cornstarch until evenly coated.
3. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat and fry tofu until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove and set aside.
4. In the same pan, sauté garlic until fragrant.
5. Add honey, soy sauce, and water, then let simmer for a few minutes.
6. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
7. Add tofu back to the pan and toss to coat evenly.
8. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, then serve immediately.
Notes
Pressing the tofu thoroughly is key to achieving maximum crispiness.
Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure even browning.
Add the sauce at the end to keep the tofu crispy longer.
