Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 package (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Reduce heat and stir in cream of mushroom soup and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Spread beef mixture in the baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup cheddar cheese.
  5. Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until tots are golden and crispy.
  7. Sprinkle remaining cheese over tots and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Let rest for a few minutes, garnish with green onions if using, and serve.
