Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1 package (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Reduce heat and stir in cream of mushroom soup and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread beef mixture in the baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup cheddar cheese.
- Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top.
- Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until tots are golden and crispy.
- Sprinkle remaining cheese over tots and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Let rest for a few minutes, garnish with green onions if using, and serve.
