Ingredients
- 1 lb sirloin steak (or flank/skirt steak), thinly sliced against the grain
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or vegetable oil)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup beef broth (optional, for sauce)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Slice the steak thinly against the grain and set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the steak in batches for 3–4 minutes total, until browned but not overcooked. Set aside.
- In the same skillet, add remaining oil and sauté the sliced onions and bell peppers for 5–6 minutes until just tender.
- Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Stir in soy sauce and beef broth. Add the cornstarch slurry if you want a thicker sauce.
- Return the steak to the skillet and toss everything together for 2–3 minutes.
