1 cup jasmine rice

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 small bay leaf (optional)
Instructions
1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water using a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.
2. In a deep skillet, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and toast for a few seconds.
