Description

A cozy cookie with bold flavor, these Orange Clove Cookies bring together the bright zest of fresh oranges and the warm depth of clove in a soft, buttery bite. Topped with a sweet citrus glaze, they’re the perfect treat for your winter baking list. Whether you’re looking for a quick breakfast idea, an easy dessert, or holiday food ideas, this easy recipe is festive, flavorful, and unforgettable.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

1 tablespoon orange zest

2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons orange juice (for glaze)

Instructions

1. Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.

2. Beat in the egg, orange zest, and orange juice until well combined.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cloves.

4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet until just combined.

5. Chill the dough for 30 minutes to help flavors develop and improve texture.

6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough, place on baking sheet, and flatten slightly.

8. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers still soft.

9. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

10. Mix powdered sugar and orange juice to make glaze, then drizzle over cooled cookies.

Notes

1. Always use fresh orange zest and juice — it makes all the difference in flavor.

2. For a thicker cookie, chill the dough for up to 2 hours.

3. Let cookies cool completely before glazing to avoid melting the icing.
