Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
For the Frosting:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles (for decorating)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, sour cream, and vanilla; beat until smooth.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing just until combined.
- Cover and chill dough for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop 1.5-inch balls of dough and place on baking sheet. Flatten slightly.
- Bake 9–11 minutes, until edges are just set. Do not overbake.
- Cool completely on wire racks.
- For frosting, beat butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk. Beat until fluffy. Add food coloring if desired.
- Frost cooled cookies and top with sprinkles.
