Ingredients

12 oz egg noodles

1 lb ground beef (preferably lean)

1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup

10.5 oz condensed French onion soup

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions

1 tbsp olive oil or butter

Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add egg noodles and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart. Drain excess fat and transfer to a bowl.

3. In the same skillet, heat olive oil or butter and sauté sliced onions for 10–15 minutes until caramelized. Add minced garlic in the last 1–2 minutes.

4. Reduce heat and stir in cream of mushroom soup, French onion soup, sour cream, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.

5. Add beef and noodles to the sauce and mix gently until fully coated.

6. Transfer mixture into a greased 9×13 casserole dish and top evenly with shredded mozzarella.

7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until hot and bubbly.

8. Add crispy fried onions and bake for an additional 5–7 minutes until golden brown.

9. Let rest a few minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

Caramelizing onions properly adds unbeatable depth to the dish—don’t rush this step.

Use slightly undercooked noodles to prevent them from turning mushy in the oven.

For an extra kick of flavor, stir a teaspoon of Dijon mustard into the sauce.
