Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 23 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste (optional)
  • 2 cups beef broth or water
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

Optional Add-ins:

  • 1/2 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onions and cook until soft. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground beef, cook until browned, and drain excess fat.
  4. Mix in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–10 minutes.
  5. Pour in broth and bring to a gentle boil. Add elbow macaroni and stir.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover loosely, and simmer for 12–15 minutes until pasta is tender.
  7. Stir well, adjust seasoning, and mix in cheese if using.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
