Ingredients

8 slices thick white bread (day-old preferred)

6 oz cream cheese softened

3 tbsp powdered sugar plus extra for dusting

1 tsp vanilla extract

45 tbsp strawberry jam

3 tbsp unsalted butter

Fresh strawberries optional for garnish

Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

2. Lay out bread slices; spread cream cheese mixture on half, jam on the other half.

3. Press slices together to form sandwiches.

4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat; melt 1 tbsp butter.

5. Fry sandwiches 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crisp, adding butter as needed.

6. Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh strawberries if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Add a pinch of cinnamon to the cream cheese mixture for extra warmth.

Reduce powdered sugar in the filling for a less sweet version.

Try with raspberry, blueberry, or apricot jam for variety.
