Description

A comforting, one-skillet dish packed with flavor—smoky sausage, juicy shrimp, and tender sautéed cabbage come together for a hearty meal that’s perfect any night of the week. Low in carbs, rich in protein, and quick to prepare, it’s a satisfying solution for both busy weeknights and laid-back weekends.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb raw shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 12 oz smoked sausage (sliced)
  • 1 small head green cabbage (thinly sliced)
  • 1 medium yellow onion (thinly sliced)
  • 23 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • Fresh parsley (optional garnish)
  • Lemon wedge (optional for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients: slice cabbage, onion, sausage, and mince garlic. Pat shrimp dry.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet. Brown sausage slices for 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sear shrimp 1–2 minutes per side until just opaque. Set aside with sausage.
  4. Add remaining oil. Sauté onions for 2–3 minutes, then add cabbage and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add garlic during the last 2 minutes of cabbage cooking.
  6. Return sausage and shrimp to the skillet. Add paprika, pepper flakes, Cajun seasoning. Mix and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  7. Taste and adjust salt and pepper.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon, if using. Serve hot.
