Perfect for any celebration, this easy recipe is topped with sweet buttercream frosting and finished with colorful sprinkles. Whether you’re looking for a quick dessert for a party or an easy recipe to make with kids, these bars are a go-to favorite. Ideal for those searching for quick desserts, easy cookie bars, holiday baking, Christmas treats, or just great baking ideas, this one ticks all the boxes.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 1/4 cups granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)

3 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)

23 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

1/4 cup holiday sprinkles

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract until well combined.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.

6. Spread dough evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

8. Allow to cool completely in the pan before frosting.

9. To make the frosting, beat softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and cream until fluffy and spreadable.

10. Frost the cooled bars and top with sprinkles. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

For extra clean cuts, chill the bars before slicing.

You can easily swap in cream cheese frosting if you prefer less sweetness.

Store bars in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
