Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

3 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons melted butter

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

2 tablespoons coarse sugar or sanding sugar (optional)

2 tablespoons cream cheese or Nutella (optional filling)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. On a lightly floured surface, unfold the puff pastry sheet and roll it slightly to even out the thickness.

3. Brush the entire surface with melted butter.

4. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, then sprinkle the mixture evenly over the pastry.

5. Fold the pastry in half lengthwise, pressing gently to seal.

6. Cut into 1-inch strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.

7. Twist each strip a few times and place on the baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.

8. Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar if using.

9. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown and puffed.

10. Let cool slightly before serving warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Keep puff pastry cold while working to ensure clean cuts and maximum puff.

Avoid adding too much filling or it may leak during baking.

For crispier results when reheating, use a toaster oven rather than a microwave.
