Description

Classic Goulash is the ultimate one-pot comfort food—perfect for busy weeknights, cozy family dinners, or meal prep. This easy dinner idea combines tender elbow macaroni, seasoned ground beef, and a rich tomato-based sauce in a way that’s nostalgic, hearty, and absolutely satisfying. Whether you’re looking for a quick dinner, a budget-friendly meal, or a classic American food idea, this recipe delivers every time. It’s flavorful, filling, and endlessly customizable—making it one of the best easy recipes you’ll keep coming back to.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 small yellow onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 green bell pepper, diced

15 oz can diced tomatoes, undrained

15 oz can tomato sauce

2 cups beef broth

1½ cups elbow macaroni, uncooked

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and black pepper to taste

Shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for garnish)

Chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1. Heat a large Dutch oven or deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess grease.

2. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

3. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir everything well.

4. Stir in uncooked macaroni and beef broth. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. Check pasta for doneness. Once tender and the sauce has thickened, adjust seasoning if needed.

6. Optional: stir in shredded cheddar cheese or sprinkle on top before serving.

7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

For a creamy version, stir in 1–2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese just before serving.

If your goulash thickens too much upon standing, loosen it up with a splash of broth or water.

Add vegetables like zucchini or corn for extra nutrition without changing the core flavor.
