Description
Golden, fluffy, bite-sized pretzels coated in warm cinnamon sugar and brushed with melted butter. These Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Bites are fun to make, ultra-satisfying to eat, and perfect for sharing—or keeping all to yourself. Serve with a sweet dip or enjoy warm from the oven.
Ingredients
1½ cups warm water (105°F to 110°F)
2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for dough)
8 cups water (for boiling)
½ cup baking soda
4 tablespoons unsalted butter (for topping)
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
4 oz cream cheese
2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for dip)
1 cup powdered sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, mix warm water, brown sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Add salt, melted butter, and 3½ cups of flour. Mix using a dough hook. Gradually add remaining flour and knead 5 minutes until smooth.
3. Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
4. Punch down the dough and place on a floured surface. Divide into 6 pieces, roll into ropes, and cut into 1-inch bites.
5. Preheat oven to 425°F. Bring 8 cups of water to boil and carefully stir in baking soda.
6. Boil pretzel bites in batches for 30 seconds each. Remove with slotted spoon and place on lined baking sheet.
7. Bake for 12–14 minutes or until golden brown. Rotate pan halfway through for even baking.
8. Brush warm bites with melted butter. Toss in cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
9. For dip: Beat cream cheese and butter. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk. Mix until smooth.
10. Serve pretzel bites warm with vanilla dip or enjoy plain!
Notes
Let buttered pretzel bites cool only slightly before tossing in sugar to ensure it sticks well.
Use a slotted spoon to remove bites from boiling water and avoid sogginess.
Cream cheese dip can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
