Ingredients

40 saltine crackers

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment and lightly grease it. Lay out a single layer of saltine crackers edge to edge.

2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar, stirring constantly. Once boiling, cook for 3 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

3. Pour hot toffee mixture evenly over crackers and spread it out with a spatula.

4. Bake for 5–6 minutes until bubbly and golden.

5. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon. Press gently so the coating sticks.

6. Let cool at room temperature for 15 minutes, then refrigerate for 30 minutes until set.

7. Once fully hardened, break into pieces or cut into squares.

8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Use parchment paper for easy removal and cleaner edges.

Make sure to boil the toffee exactly 3 minutes—overcooking can burn it quickly.

For extra flair, drizzle melted chocolate on top before adding the cinnamon sugar.
