Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 small yellow onion, finely chopped (optional)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8-count)

1 tbsp olive oil or butter (for cooking)

1 tbsp melted butter (optional, for brushing biscuit tops)

2 tbsp ketchup or burger sauce (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil or butter and brown the ground beef. Add onions if using. Cook until fully browned, about 5–7 minutes.

3. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Drain excess grease.

4. If desired, add ketchup or burger sauce to the beef mixture and stir to combine.

5. Lightly grease a 9×9 baking dish. Flatten 4 biscuits and press them together to form the bottom layer in the dish.

6. Evenly spread the beef mixture over the biscuit base.

7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.

8. Flatten the remaining 4 biscuits and place them on top, overlapping if needed.

9. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until biscuits are golden and cooked through. Cover loosely with foil if tops brown too quickly.

10. Optional: brush tops with melted butter. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Let the beef mixture cool slightly before adding it to the biscuit base to prevent sogginess.

For best results, use freshly shredded cheese—it melts better and tastes richer.

Add extras like bacon, jalapeños, or pickles to customize the flavor.
