Ingredients
- 8 ounces (226g) semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
Optional:
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1–2 tablespoons liqueur (optional)
Instructions
- Finely chop the chocolate and place it in a heatproof bowl.
- Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until just simmering, then remove from heat.
- Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 2–3 minutes.
- Stir gently from the center outward until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Add optional ingredients like butter or vanilla, and stir until fully incorporated.
- Use immediately for pouring, or let cool for spreading or piping.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.
