Ideal for quick breakfast treats, easy dinner desserts, or healthy snack alternatives with a twist of indulgence.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup frozen or dried cherries

Instructions

1. Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla extract.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.

5. Fold in chocolate chips and chopped cherries (pat dry if using frozen).

6. Cover dough and chill for at least 30 minutes.

7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

8. Scoop dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on baking sheets.

9. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers are soft.

10. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill the dough to prevent excessive spreading and deepen the flavor.

Press a few extra chocolate chips and cherry bits on top of each cookie before baking for a bakery-style look.

If using dried cherries, soak them for 10 minutes in warm water before mixing in.
