Ingredients
1 cup warm milk
2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
12 tsp Nutella (1 heaping tsp per bun)
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
2. Add egg, melted butter, and salt. Mix in flour gradually to form a soft dough.
3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5. Punch down the dough, divide into 12 pieces, and flatten each into a small circle.
6. Place 1 tsp Nutella in the center of each, seal the edges, and shape into a ball.
7. Arrange seam-side down on a parchment-lined tray and cover. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden.
9. Let cool slightly, then dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Freeze spoonfuls of Nutella before filling the dough to make sealing easier.
Use a digital scale to measure flour for the most accurate, fluffy texture.
These are best served warm; reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
