Description

Amish Broccoli Salad is a creamy, crunchy, and flavor-packed side dish perfect for a quick dinner, easy recipe rotation, or healthy snack option. Fresh broccoli, crispy bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and a sweet tangy dressing create a classic American salad that fits beautifully into dinner ideas, potluck food ideas, and meal prep plans.


Ingredients

6 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 cup cauliflower florets

1/3 cup red onion finely diced

8 slices bacon cooked and crumbled

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese freshly shredded

1 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/3 cup sunflower seeds optional

1/3 cup raisins or dried cranberries optional


Instructions

1. Wash and thoroughly dry the broccoli and cauliflower.

2. Cut into small bite-sized florets.

3. Finely dice onion and shred cheddar cheese.

4. Cook bacon until crispy, drain, and crumble.

5. Whisk mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth.

6. Combine broccoli, cauliflower, onion, cheese, seeds, and dried fruit.

7. Pour dressing over salad and toss evenly.

8. Fold in bacon, reserving some for garnish.

9. Chill for at least 1–2 hours before serving.

10. Stir before serving and adjust seasoning if needed.


Notes

Ensure broccoli is fully dry to avoid watery dressing.

Substitute half the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter version.

Add some bacon just before serving to maintain crisp texture.
